Dr. Vladimir St. Surin
Director of Athletics

Dr. St. Surin comes to West Allegheny from the Community College of Allegheny County where he has served as Dean of Students and Lead for Enrollment Services since 2019, Assistant Dean from 2015 to 2019, and Director of Student Life and Athletics from 2008 to 2015.  While at CCAC, he also served as the Director of the Verizon Innovation Learning STEM Achievers Program engaging with regional school districts and stakeholders to support student STEM pursuits. Directly impacting students in the classroom, he also serves as an adjunct faculty member at CCAC and a visiting professor at DeVry University. While in these positions, Dr. St. Surin has provided leadership and support to students, faculty, staff, and the community while cultivating meaningful relationships to best serve the students and foster growth. CCAC’s Athletic Department also grew under Dr. St. Surin’s leadership as he developed a five-year Strategic Plan for Athletics, significantly increased the student-athlete population, added two new athletic programs, and created and launched a new CCAC Athletic website. Prior to CCAC, Dr. St. Surin worked for Family Links and the Pittsburgh Job Corps Center serving youth in the Pittsburgh community for over six years.

As a resident of West Allegheny, Dr. St. Surin currently sits on the Findlay Township Athletic Association Board and serves within the organization as the Flag Football Commissioner. In this role since 2015, he has partnered with Findlay, Oakdale and North Fayette townships to engage the youth in the community.  Dr. St. Surin also serves as a West Allegheny Youth Football and a West Allegheny Youth Basketball coach.

“The power of sports is incredible because it is one of the few spaces where the entire ecosystem of a student can find engagement, belonging, success and community,” said Dr. St. Surin. “My vision is to continue enhancing the profile of the student-athlete ecosystem as I know that West Allegheny has a long history of being a powerhouse for student-athletes. As a West A community member, I know the value of maintaining our culture, while identifying areas of opportunity for growth, expansion, and progress. I look forward to serving our entire student population, including our student-athletes’ needs alongside each of you.”
