Lead roles for WA's 2023 production of "Grease" include Eleni Fitsioris as Sandy, Rachel Sabo as Rizzo, Zoe Pratt as Frenchy, Alex Booth as Marty, Kenzie Heidenreich as Jan, Mia Foster as Patty, Jack Campbell as Danny, Dane Partozoti as Kenickie, Nick Sabo as Doody, Carson McKinney as Roger, Liam Kilbourn as Eugene, and Brock Stickley as Sonny. The total cast of 54 will fill the remaining named and exciting ensemble roles. Four performances are scheduled for Thursday, March 23, Friday, March 24 and Saturday, March 25, each at 7 PM, along with Sunday, March 26, at 2 PM. Reserved seat tickets will go on sale in mid-February.

West Allegheny has been named a ‘Lighthouse’ district by AASA, The School Superintendents Association, in partnership with the Successful Practices Network within the category of Future Ready Learners: Differentiated Targeted Supports and Focus on Removing Barriers. As one of only 13 districts nationwide to earn an excellence distinction, it recognizes West Allegheny’s Early College In High School Academy (ECIHSA) as a model of positive change for other districts.

For the fourth consecutive year West Allegheny High School has been recognized as a U.S. News & World Report Best High School for 2022. West Allegheny ranked 2,926 out of 17,843 high schools nationally, 107 out of 676 statewide, and 20 out of 124 in the region. These rankings are based on six factors: college readiness, reading and math proficiency, reading and math performance, underserved student performance, college curriculum breadth and graduation rates.
West Allegheny Middle School has been redesignated as a School to Watch by the National Forum to Accelerate Middle Grades Reform. The goals of the STW program include: (1) to promote continuous school improvement and (2) to identify and recognize middle-level schools and programs that are academically excellent, developmentally responsive, socially equitable and organized to ensure continuous improvement. STW schools serve as exemplars for the successful implementation of best middle-level practices. Schools to Watch State Director Bruce Vosburgh presented the students and school leaders with their award banner.
