The district has begun to use a program called Accelerated Reader. Your child has most likely taken the STAR component of the program to assess their reading level. From this test each child is given a range of book levels that are appropriate for him/her to read. Teachers will assign point goals based on your child's reading range. After completing books in your child's range he/she will take a test using the school's computers to show his/her teacher their comprehension. Each classroom teacher should send you information on how this program will be specifically used in your child's classroom. While there are thousands of books that have accelerated reader tests and most of our library's books will have tests, finding a book in your child's level and interest will continue to be my goal for your son/daughter.
